Falling Out of Summer With Color

September is upon us, bringing with it cooler nights and lightweight sweaters. We here at Greene Street call this our “fall transitional period”- not quite cold enough for the wools and down puffer jackets, but definitely ready for booties and a lightweight jacket.

Although department store racks and magazines usually feature items in darker hues and tones for the fall season, don't be afraid to sport some pops of color to spice things up. Just because summer is over, doesn't mean you have to surrender anything that's not brown. To start, focus on incorporating color in just one item of the outfit- whether it's through a shirt, jeans, bracelet or shoes.

Also, if you're tired of what you have in your wardrobe and are ready to start this season on a fresh note, bring us those transitional fall goodies...and maybe fill it with some new (yet still fun and colorful) pieces!

15 Minutes to Find a Summer Outfit at Greene Street Head Quarters

If the title doesn't explain it well enough, today I challenged myself. Or so I thought.

Not only do I blog for Greene Street but I also post for their Social Media accounts and have worked with the company for some time. I spend a good portion of my time at the HeadQuarters for Greene Street, which hosts office spaces for all of the behind-the-scenes Greene Team members (including the owner of the company herself and her adorable chihuahuas). The HQ is also the distribution place for some of our consignments and on the first floor of this beautiful restored warehouse (exposed brick everywhere, giant windows, hardwood floors) are some of our processors hard at work keying in consignments and sending them back to their respected stores. The floor where the processing takes place is also on the way to the company kitchen, so it's necessary to make a pit stop from time to time to gawk at the latest summer fabrics and accessories on their way to the sales floor.

This evening after work I have plans with friends to attend a concert at the park but I'm not exactly dressed for the occasion. I decided to venture downstairs, with only a 15 minute window, to attempt at finding a quick outfit for my evening. And VOILÀ! It took a whole whopping 5 minutes (not surprised because Greene Street is always brimming with treasures).

I found:

Calypso bohemian cotton tunic, size XS (new with tags displaying the cost of $250) for $72.95

Zara silky printed trouser pants (SUPER comfy), size small, $16.95 at Greene Street

Soludos espadrille leather strap sandals, $54.95

+ a really cute rope and bead boho-style necklace for $10.95

Not only are my selected pieces perfect for a night concert, but for everyday summer wear. My Greene Street picks are never one-and-done picks. They always seem to be staple pieces in my wardrobe for the season. In fact- the Calypso tunic can be work well into the fall, and best believe I will ;)
