Fall Color Report

 The other day a shopper asked what the “it” colors are this fall and as any slave to fashion knows, with every new season comes new colors. Fortunately for us, the prominent designers decide what those colors will be and shortly following fashion week, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle etc., are doing 4-8 page spreads giving us the scoop.

According to Pantone Color Institute- the go-to for all things color- this fall we're seeing burgundy, copper, mustard yellow, dusty gray, teal, scarlet red, and purple (all colors you can find at any Greene Street location)

Of course there are some colors people can and cannot pull off depending on individual hair and skin tone, so thankfully there are plenty of options to work with. For example, try pairing purple and teal together,  mustard yellow with gray, or taupe with scarlet red.

Finding Your Carry-Overs

We all know that cleaning out closets can be a nuisance because of the questions that inescapably come along with it. How often do I wear this? Is it still in style?  How do I look? How much longer can I wear it?

On the upside, it's the opportune time for finding the pieces you really love, especially the ones that can be carried over into the upcoming season.

Take for example a one piece jumpsuit that is appropriate for both the summer and fall. In the summer it can be worn by itself with a pair of flats/ sandals, or in the fall with a cardigan and booties.

Other examples of “carry-overs”  include a maxi skirt-worn with a simple tank in the summer or boots and a jacket in the fall- the classic chambray shirt, quarter sleeve blazers, and neutral-toned handbags.

So if you find yourself out shopping or organizing the closet, look for the pieces that make transitioning a tad easier.

The Suede Sensation is Rockin' the Nation

As we leave Labor Day behind us, it's time to start thinking about fall fashion and all the beautiful materials that come along with it. During one of my recent trips to the mall, I noticed both suede and faux suede on everything- purses, shoes, clothing, hats--you name it, it was there. Although the trend first appeared this year during the Spring Fashion week, clearly it was so well-loved that designers are carrying it over into the cooler seasons.
